Rachel is the given name to a now ex-girlfriend of Gavin. The two of them dated for a while, and seemed to be very happy together. So much so that she actually let Gavin crawl up on her to have sex. [Gross!]
After some time together, Gavin started to suspect something wasn't quite right with the situation. He suspicions were confirmed when Rachel mentioned that she an ex-boyfriend of hers was coming into town, and she wanted to see him. Why? Well, the two of them were REALLY good friends, and she needed to see him, because he understood her like no one else. So, Gavin calls Russ, and asks for his advise. Of course, the Russ Martin approach is to stalk the woman.
Gavin does just that, and is sitting down the road, watching her, when she calls to say she has to go over to the ex-boyfriends house to help with a sick dog. At that point, the relationship was over.
