Who is Russ Martin?

Name: Russ Martin

Birthdate: 10/04/1960

First Radio Job: KGVL (1400) Greenville, 1980

Russ Martin grew up in the Dallas Fort Worth area, more specifically, Pleasant Grove. He's been in local radio for over 26 years in a variety of jobs. He spent many years at KEGL where he worked most time slots over years. When Howard Stern was cancelled in the DFW market, he was put in what some considered the unfortunate spot of replacing him. Much to everyone's surprise he managed to work the show into the top 5 in the mornings.

His contract expired around April 1999, and he continued to work at The Eagle while trying to work out a new contract. Six months later the "No Compete" clause in his contract expired. This meant that he could legally go to another station the next day, with no legal ramifications. Meanwhile, over at KYNG, the CBS radio station was considering a switch to the "Hot Talk" format, considering it's country format was tanking in the rankings. The management contacted Russ Martin, and learned that he could leave The Eagle and start the next day. Russ left The Eagle on March, 15, 2000, and took two weeks off before starting at KYNG on April 3, 2000 at 6:00am. On March 10, 2003, KYNG changed call letters to KLLI.

On December 8, 2008, 105.3 flipped to an all sports format, and Russ was removed from the air. He remained under contract to CBS until April 2011. On July 1, 2010, KEGL announced the return of Russ Martin to the Dallas airwaves. As a listener, we can only assume something happened contract wise that allowed him to return to the air.

His KEGL morning show began on July 12, 2010 at 6:00am.

Russ' CB handle growing up: CowPattyDaddy

Russ owns a number of cars, including a Mach 5, 2 Batmobiles, a pickup and a corvette. (And who knows what else, really.)

Other Events:

March, 2005 - Russ buys a house in Tarrant County. He's not a fan of the 817 area code, but things at Martin Manor seem to be going well.

September, 2005 - The 4th annual Hero's Parade started at Texas Stadium and ended at Texas Motor Speedway. Attendance was down a little from previous years as many departments were shorthanded, having sent personnel to help with the Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.

October, 2005 - 3rd Annual Russ Martin Show Staff strip-off.

February, 2006 - Russ performs at the White Trash Party with the "Russ Martin Show Experience." This gives Russ the idea that the band should continue and go on tour.

May 1, 2007 - Russ starts dipping, the same day Trey stops.

June 5, 2007 - Russ reportedly signs a new long term contract with CBS. He celebrates by taking the next day off.

May, 2008 - Russ opens his auto show, Russ Martin Automotive.

When Dan Lewis was on the show, he was both the producer and call screener. At some point, Dan moved into the studio, and thus creating a need for someone to answer phones. Dan O'Malley, who worked on the (then) overnight show got the call. With the departure of Dan Lewis, Trey Trenholm, O'Malley picked up the slack of Producer. Russ tried many times to get O'Malley to take the money and position, but he wouldn't do it. Why? Dan still wants his own show with Tasos. Eventually, Dan took the money.

In April of 2008, Tasos left the Dan and Tasos show. The Dan O'Malley show was immediately moved to 4pm on Saturdays.

In June of 2008, Dan has started doing the traffic reports after Gail left for her own show.

12/08/2008 - The Russ Martin Show is dropped from Live105.3 due to CBS flipping the station to "The Fan." Dan also loses his weekend show in the flip. He continued to wrk for The Fan until June 30, 2010, when signed off the air.

07/12/2010 - Dan joins Russ on KEGL.

Clo is the promotions guy at Live 105.3 who was asked to come into the studio and watch the log when Eddie Boyd left the show. Why Clo? Well, back when Russ was at KEGL, Clo was in the studio with him. Russ really enjoyed Clo's laugh. That's the main reason that Eddie was brought on the show, because it reminded Russ of Clo.

12/08/2008 - The Russ Martin Show is dropped from Live105.3 due to CBS flipping the station to "The Fan."

07/12/2010 - Clo returns to KEGL as well working the morning show with Russ.

Who is Everett Newton?

Birthday: 04/05

Everett managed to get on the show while Russ was on the Eagle, during a feature called "Ask The Professional." When the show moved over the KYNG/KLLI, Russ asked him to come on the air two days a week. Currently, he is on the show Wednesdays and Fridays, unless he has law. He is a partner in the law firm of Berlof & Newton, P. C. and which is located at DallasAttorney.com. He also has a band, Little Morphine Annie.

Everett holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and has been awarded a Doctorate of Jurisprudence by the University of Houston School of Law. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas as well as several other professional associations, including the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, Texas Municipal Justice Bar Association, Dallas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, and the Dallas Municipal Justice Bar Association. * Information in this paragraph taken from DallasAttorney.com

12/08/2008 - The Russ Martin Show is dropped from Live105.3 due to CBS flipping the station to "The Fan." Everett also loses his weekend show in the flip.

07/12/2010 - Everett will be heard once again on KEGL. He's joining Russ in the mornings. As of this writing, I don't know his schedule.

Who is Trey Trenholm?

The "pasty, pink-nippled man-boy of Dallas", Trey was first introduced to the show as "Trent" during the time Russ was trying to sell his house. While known as Trent, it was revealed that he lived with his mother, and does indeed work in Real Estate. Once Dan Lewis left to do his own show, he was brought on air to be the new producer. It was at this time he was renamed to "Trey Trenholm." Russ (and Eddie in the bits he writes) is constantly making references to Trey being pasty-skinned, and his pictures suggest that this is not too far from the truth. Russ is also constantly making references to Trey's ovoid, pink nipples, but no one has ever seen them. Russ also makes reference to Trey's presence in the studio sucking the talent, and the life out of everyone present. Whenever Russ puts Trey on the spot about something, Trey has an annoying tendency to lock up completely, which further fuels Russ' ire. Russ relegated Trey to his office some time ago due to Trey's apparent inability to concentrate on actually being a producer while in the studio. Trey has done better since. Other things Russ is on Trey about include, Trey's mom (who is rumored to be quite hot), Trey's penchant for wearing Jethro Clampett-style shirts, Trey's snuff-habit, and the state of disarray on Trey's desk that rivals even Dan Lewis. To illustrate this last point, Russ cut Trey's desk (and computer keyboard) in half with a chainsaw.

In September of 2003, Trey was inexplicably quit and was subsequently fired as the producer of the Russ Martin Show. His last day on the air, as producer, was 09/11/2003. In the following weeks, it was discoved that he had sold a multi-million dollar home and this windfall was presumed by the show to be the reason for his departure.

In late 2005, Trey began making semi-regular appearances on the show again. When he's not selling Russ' land, he appears on the show answering questions about news events, and other generalities. Trey seems to be well read, and can answer about a wide variety of topics.

He's since returned to the show full time.

Other events:

May 1, 2007 - Trey stops dipping.

12/08/2008 - The Russ Martin Show is dropped from Live105.3 due to CBS flipping the station to "The Fan."

07/12/2010 - Trey joins Russ at KEGL.

Who is Alfie?

Tuesday, 13 July 2010 06:59 Last Updated on Wednesday, 18 August 2010 21:25

[My Space]

Alfie joined the RMS in as a guitar tech/phone screener in October of 2008. He quickly moved his way in to the Tree House after taking off his shirt and it being discovered he had "freakin huge nipples". Soon he was promoted to target for the price is right games. In the games Russ would name off an item and Alfie would have to bid on it without going over, if he was wrong Dan O'Malley would throw the item at him. (This bit was partially inspired by a story a cop buddy told Russ about a Domestic Dispute call he went on where a man and his wife got in to an argument that the husband stopped at Taco Bell and did not get his wife anything. This resulted in the wife nagging at her husband who at one point became upset and decided to share his food with her, by throwing a bean burrito at her head.) Memorable hits Alfie has taken, A Mag Wheel, a 2009 Ford F-150 (with California emissions) and a frozen fish (which lead to him getting a detached retina), and being shot by a BB gun and wheeled by Trey.
